Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CityPins (the "Service"), a hyperlocal platform where businesses and individuals publish short-lived, city-specific posts called "pins". By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Accounts and Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 years old to publish pins on behalf of a business.
• Registration requires a valid email address, which is verified by a one-time password (OTP).
• Accounts are one of three types: user (browse and engage), poster (individual publisher), or brand (business publisher).
• Poster and brand accounts require approval by CityPins before they can publish pins. We may approve, delay, or revoke publishing access at our discretion.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

2. Pins and Content

• Pins are short text posts (up to 160 characters) with an optional image, category, city, and external link.
• Every pin has an expiry date. When a pin expires or is closed, it stops appearing in the active feed.
• You retain ownership of the content you publish. By publishing, you grant CityPins a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, translate, and distribute that content within the Service.
• You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to everything you publish, including images, and that your content does not infringe any third-party rights.
• Pin text may be machine-translated into the interface languages we support. Translations are provided for convenience and may not be accurate.

3. Prohibited Use

You may not publish or use the Service for content that:

• Is illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or promotes illegal goods or services
• Is sexually explicit, violent, hateful, harassing, or discriminatory
• Infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights
• Contains malware, phishing links, or misleading redirects
• Is spam, duplicated across cities without local relevance, or artificially inflated by fake engagement
• Impersonates another person, business, or CityPins itself
• Contains personal data of third parties without their consent

You also may not scrape the Service, interfere with its operation, attempt to bypass authentication or credit limits, or manipulate views, likes, or shares by automated means.

4. Credits

• Publishing, boosting, and highlighting pins consume credits from your account balance.
• Credits are allocated by CityPins, including an initial allocation on approval and periodic refills. CityPins may adjust allocation amounts and costs at any time.
• Credits have no monetary value, are not a stored-value or payment instrument, are not transferable between accounts, and are not redeemable for cash.
• Credits consumed by a pin are not refunded if the pin is closed early, edited, removed for policy reasons, or if your account is suspended.

5. Moderation and Enforcement

• Users can report pins. Pins that exceed our report threshold are flagged for review.
• We may remove any pin, hide content, suspend publishing rights, or terminate an account at our discretion, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms.
• We do not pre-screen content. Pins reflect the views of the accounts that publish them, not of CityPins.

6. Advertising

The Service displays third-party advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. Advertisements are labelled and are not endorsements by CityPins. Transactions with advertisers are solely between you and the advertiser. How advertising cookies are used is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Third-Party Links

Pins and advertisements may link to external websites. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, offers, availability, or practices of those websites. Offers, prices, and availability described in a pin are the sole responsibility of the account that published it.

8. Availability and Changes

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including features, credit rules, cities, and categories, at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that content will be preserved indefinitely.

9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CityPins disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content, and non-infringement. CityPins is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from your use of the Service or from your reliance on any pin or advertisement.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CityPins against any claim, demand, loss, or expense arising from the content you publish or your breach of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account by contacting us. We may terminate or suspend your account for breach of these Terms. Sections covering content licence, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity survive termination.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Tamil Nadu, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
